My Love For 'Dil Dhadakne Do'

My Love For ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’

To protect ourselves from the world’s expectations and reality, we prefer to surround ourselves with our loved ones. And what’s better than having your family around?

Home is an escape from the outside where we can be ourselves without fearing any judgment.

But what should a person do when his/her family is also structured by society?

Dil Dhadakne Do - Family

Dil Dhadakne Do is a story of such a family: a dysfunctional family as we call it.

Zoya Akhtar has always managed to make the audience feel like they are a part of the film.

Throughout the movie, we will realize that ‘what people will think’ holds greater value than ‘what do you want to do’. And this is the ultimate truth of our society.

Dealing with different stories as a whole, the movie doesn’t lose its essence.

The first time I saw the film, I think I was quite young to understand all the complications. But revisiting it in my early 20s has made me realize that this is a story of almost every Indian family (saying with my personal experience).

Since our childhood only, we are taught A for Adjustment and Z for Zimmedari. And between these alphabets, lies your struggle to please society with your compromises.

We humans can tell our emotions through our words.

And we end up saying all the right things but to the wrong person.

And then we sit in the hope that everything will be fine. Parents can be tough sometimes.

And they have to understand that love also requires freedom.

But you will have to talk to them first.

Pluto in Dil Dhadakne Do

As Pluto says, we humans have an amazing ability to change ourselves and grow.

Start talking. It will not change everything in one day. Be patient and take some time.

And if you are still not able to change them, then you have the perfect guide with your experience of ‘Dos and Don’ts’ as a parent, for your future.
