Meri Pyaari Bindu: Abhimanyu & His Love For Bindu

I don’t remember the last time Bollywood made a love story which was this relatable for me. I am a hopeless romantic girl who is waiting for the moment when I will meet my partner at a very random place. But let’s accept that, the chances of this scenario being true is almost like zero.

After fantasizing for 20 years with unrealistic stories, I watched ‘Meri Pyaari Bindu‘ and I could not understand why it didn’t work with the Indian audience. One of the reasons we watch films is to have an escape. We only want to see movies where both the individuals end up together. Maybe that’s why people didn’t like it.

The movie might not fit your description of a romantic film, but trust me, it’s one of the sweetest love stories I’ve seen. Music plays an important role in this film. Be it ‘Maana ke hum yaar nahi’ or ‘Afeemi’, it just touches your heart.

The beautiful story starts in Kolkata. Parineeti Chopra’s character Bindu is a vivacious girl who wants to be a singer. She believes in doing things that her heart says. And to balance her madness, we have Ayushmann as Abhimanyu Roy. He’s a budding writer who just wants to see his Bindu happy.

Since childhood, he loved Bindu but it took Bindu a few years to realize that she also loved Abhimanyu.

After living together for some time in Mumbai, Abhimanyu proposes Bindu for marriage. But, she says no and leaves him.

After a few years, when Abhimanyu comes back to Kolkata, he meets Bindu. But then what happened? Did they end up together? No! Because to have a ‘happy ending’, you should be happy. And if you’re not happy together, it’s not your happy ending my friend.

I recently read somewhere, “It’s not like you stop loving someone. You just find another person, whom you will love more.
